GOLD
Colorado Quartz Mine, Mariposa County, California
This specimen is regarded by many as the world’s most aesthetic crystallized gold. It was prepared and sold by Collector’s Edge to American music composer James Horner in 1998 (Horner wrote the musical scores for Titanic, Avatar, Braveheart). This specimen is now on public display at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
Appreciating fine mineral specimens is a very personal experience and evaluating these natural art objects is subjective on many levels. Included among the key drivers in selecting mineral specimens for one’s collection is that the specimens should be aesthetically appealing and/or intellectually stimulating.
We believe that a collector should “fall in love” with the pieces they acquire.
Equally important, however, is that every specimen selected for one’s personal mineral collection exhibit outstanding quality and possess strong market desirability. These characteristics are far more objective and the basis of our proprietary mineral specimen assessment.
Over the past 35 years, the Collector’s Edge has evaluated several hundred thousand mineral specimens for their quality and market desirability. Based on that experience, we have developed a sound methodology for objectively evaluating the specimens we recommend to our clients.
